1st For SeaparkAC on their 1st Birthday!

LarneAC held their annual Half Marathon on Saturday 24th March. Over 345 athletes took to the roads to take part in the popular run; conditions were perfect for the race which follows the coastal road from Larne leisure centre to Ballygalley and back.
The Carrickfergus based SeaparkAC running Club was formed 1 year ago and in 2006 the Larne Half Marathon was their debut run with only 1 Seapark club runner taking part. In the past year the club has grown from strength to strength and has over 30 members of all ages and abilities. New members are always welcome.
16 members of SeaparkAC took to the road to celebrate their first official birthday run.
The club entered 3 relay teams and 7 individual club runners in the race and claimed First Prize in the ladies relay team event. Taking the winning prize were Laura McKenzie, Elaine Megaw and Gail Rinchey well done girls! The other relay team members were Team 2: Ann Milroy, Caroline Tester and Marie Hamilton. Team 3: Reg Kapur, Mathew Holland and Eddie Simpson. Well done to the teams. First home for the individual club runners was Bryce Irvine (27th)1hr22min52sec followed by Robert Gordon (88th)1hr32min58sec, Bobby Irvine (90th) 1hr33min3sec, Gary Connolly (91st)1hr33min10sec, Andrew Weir (142nd)1hr40min13sec, Frank Wiengarten (153rd)1hr41min43sec, John Lunny (315th) 2hr9min41sec. And well done to new member Thomas Kane (124th) 1hr37m39sec.
