‘BERLIN MARATHON 2007′

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Our most recent marathon race took part in Berlin, with 3 of our members competing. It was high aims for the guys: Gary Connelly, Andrew Weir, Reg Kapur. The goods were produced on the day, as the weather was as good as ever along with pleasing results for Gary - bringing it in at a racing: 3h:39:08, this put Gary in lead towards the end. Following very closely behind was Andrew Weir finishing in a fantastic: 3h:40:16, He’l be most definately pleased with his result. Our 3rd member for seapark was Reg Kapur, coming in at a respectable: 3:40:54, Reg had higher expectations with the training going greatly well throughout the year, however injuring factors only weeks before the big day gave him a hindering performance so close to the end of the race @ the 20 mile mark.

Well done to all 3 members coming in at fantastic times and theres even rumour Reg will be making a comeback in his next marathon which may be the last but who knows - we shall have to wait and see.
But again a great race guys, well done! and looking forward to the celebrations.

Ards 5mile Challenge 3rd Aug 2007

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

The 5mile challange race in newtownards seen 4 members of seapark club taking part. On such a fast course it felt like it was over too quickly, but thats only because time flies when seapark is working hard. A bit of rain and wet didn’t bother to upset our members, as the group worked hard, pushing efforts all the way from start to finish. Reg Kapur led the team round the course and itching from the back was Junior member, Andrew Crothers working well to try stepping up the pace, ending with a sprint finish it came close between both Reg (finishing: 31:51) and Andrew finishing: 31:40mins.

Similar was seen for both Pauline Smythe and Donal McKeown both stepping up on a great pace working hard throughout - It goes to show the speed-work isn’t just a pretty phrase. Pauline finished: 40:38mins making a nicely set time upon 40mins, and Donal close behind on: 42:40mins.

That’s an excellent result for all that took part - the future is promising - KEEP IT UP GUYS!
