About SeaparkAC
SeaparkAC came into existence on the 27th March 2006. Backed by the experience and enthusiasm of several local club runners, SeaparkAC has been set up to promote Health & Fitness through running in the Carrickfergus area. Doug Heys, the Club PR Officer says, “The club welcomes experienced runners & brave non-runners. It is open to men & women of all ages and sizes & minors over 14 years of age (who must be accompanied by a Parent or Guardian). Gary Connolly, Club Secretary and local resident states, “Carrickfergus has expanded massively in recent years and the numbers we see pounding the streets alone or in small groups makes us feel that the time is now right to formally set up a club in the area”. Although the primary aim of the Club is to encourage people to gain pleasure through running, we are also looking to compete locally, nationally and internationally in anything from 5k fun runs all the way up to full Marathons.
As of September 1st 2009, the club will once again be based at the Carrickfergus Ampitheatre (formerly Carrickfergus leisure centre). The club meets 3 times weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm , for general training and speed work and on Sundays at 9am for longer stamina runs at various locations in the Carrickfergus and surrounding areas.
