3rd Place for Bobby at Stranraer!

November 17th, 2009

Bobby Irvine travelled to Stranraer on Saturday 7th November to take part in their annual 10K race.
It was an early start, checking in for the ferry at 7:00am but the crossing was calm and the weather turned out great for the race.

The race started at 12 noon and was mostly on rural roads on the outskirts of the town. The course is mostly
flat except for a half mile hill at about half way which is pretty steep but the views along the ridge at the top were well worth the climb. The last few kilometers bring you back down hill with the finish on the athletics track at the Stranraer Academy.

Bobby finished in 40:37, 16th place over all (out of 203 finishers) and 3rd in the M45 category, picking up a trophy and £10 in vouchers also.

The event was well organised, with the start and finish within walking distance of the ferry terminal and there are good changing and showering facilities.

Bobby would recommend the race to anyone looking to take on the challenge of running somewhere different
